Build a Dog Car Ramp

Is your dog struggling to get into your car or boat? You can build a dog car ramp to save your back and to continue to give your dog freedom and enjoyment. There are two types you can build out of wood or other materials: one that is a fixed length, and one that folds and is portable.

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

The dog car ramp instructions below are for a fixed ramp and meant for side entry onto the floor of a minivan or the super cab of a pickup with a height of up to 24 inches (610 mm). )See the links at bottom for directions on how to build the portable kind for cars and boats.)

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

Before you start, check to see if the place where you will store your homemade dog ramp in your vehicle can accommodate the 5-foot (1525 mm) length. The longer the ramp, the gentler the slope.

Note that for getting into the taller rear of an SUV or pickup truck bed, you will most likely need a folding dog ramp for your dog. A length of at least 70 inches (1780 mm) is necessary to create a reasonable slope.

MATERIALS

English (Imperial) Units:

3/8 inch plywood, 12-18 inches wide and 4-5 feet long Two pieces 2x2 inch (50x50 mm) lumber the same length as the plywood for rails Two pieces 1x2 inch (25x50 mm) lumber the same width as the plywood for end supports 30 Drywall screws, 1 ¼ to 1 ½ inches (32-38 mm) long 10 Drywall screws, 1 inch (25 mm) long Sandpaper: 1 sheet coarse, 1 sheet medium, 1 sheet fine grade Rubber matting, carpet or good quality Astroturf to 3 inches less wide than the plywood

Metric Units:

10 mm plywood, 305-460 mm wide and 1220-1525 mm long 2 pieces 50x50 mm lumber the same length as the plywood for rails 2 pieces 25x50 mm lumber the same width as the plywood for end supports 30 Drywall screws, 32-38 mm long 10 Drywall screws, 25 mm long Various grits sandpaper per above Rubber matting, carpet or Astroturf 75 mm less wide than the plywood 5 mm less wide than the plywood

TOOLS

Power drill with bit diameter slightly narrower than screws A saw to cut the pieces of wood (unless you can get the store guys to do it) A power and/or hand screwdriver Glue for wood and carpet

ADDING THE RAILS

For each rail, screw and glue at 4-inch (100 mm) intervals as follows: Drill a hole through the plywood into the rail 4 inches from one end Put in a 1 ½ inch (38 mm) screw to hold the wood there Do the same from the other end and secure with a screw Drill holes in between the two ends at the specified intervals Put a dab of glue on each screw before driving it in

ADDING THE END SUPPORTS

Turn the ramp over Put an end support underneath the plywood along one end Drill holes and secure with 1-inch (25 mm) screws Use at least one screw every 4 inches (100 mm) Do the same with the other end

FINISHING THE RAMP

Use coarse sandpaper to round any sharp edges Follow up with medium then fine sandpaper If using carpet or Astroturf, sear the edges with a flame and pinch with a damp sponge to prevent unraveling Glue or staple carpet to the plywood Make sure there are no protruding sharp edges

Have your dog try the dog car ramp out, using treats for encouragement as needed. For some dogs it may work better to put the ramp at a low angle, like up on a curb, for an easier introduction.

Building A Custom Chopper Motorcycle, Where Do You Start?

So you want to build a custom chopper? I do too, so the first question I asked myself, is where do I start. Should I make a business plan, a schedule, a financial statement, or should I just buy my wife some flowers and blindly proceed? I guess I should do all of the above but not necessarily in that order.

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

I will start by trying to justify this purchase and or endeavor, to do this I will make a list of my reasons for building a Chopper. 1) I want to ride a custom chopper, a totally cool stretched out, fire breathing, gas eating, pavement pounding, old lady scaring, 2 wheel monster. 2) I want to be able to say "I built that" when someone asks me where I got that totally sick bike. 3) I want to be able to customize the bike beyond the standard add on parts I can get for my current bike a Harley Davidson Fatboy. 4) I want to be able to make this dream come true, meaning I need to be able to pay for it. A ,000 chopper is out of my current budget. 5) I have been talking about this for 5 years so why don't I get to it and stop doing all the talking and start doing some building.

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

Now I have a few reasons on paper a will look at my options, then make a plan, a schedule, and find some extra money.

Let's start with a my build options, and plan on a slow and steady approach. I realize I will need to do a lot of research before I start. I have 4 basic options, a kit bike, a rolling chassis, a start from zero build, or an extreme makeover of a current motorcycle.

Option 1) If I start with a motorcycle kit I maybe the farthest ahead from a mechanical perspective, and farthest behind from a financial point of view. What do I mean by this, well a kit bike has all the parts it just needs paint, labor, gas, oil and some love. The problem a complete kit bike will cost me ,000 dollars right up front. This is a bit out of my spend a ton of money now then not be able to ride a bike for a year or two thinking. If I get a kit, I maybe able to get it together faster, as I will be motivated and have all the parts ready to go. As a first bike I think this is a very good option, when you consider all the expensive mistakes I may make along that way. One drawback to this option is the amount of customization I can do to the bike as it is put together. Because all the parts are in the kit, I may resist the urge to get new bars or different sheet metal, or other parts.

Option 2) Start with a Rolling chassis, this is the middle of the road option, spend a lump sum of money, about 1/2 of what the overall bike will cost and get a basic setup that all works together.

A Rolling chassis kit consists of a Frame, 2 wheels, the forks, and triple clamps and bars, all build and configured to work together. Add a motor and a transmission and all the major workings of the bike are in place. This setup helps avoid some of the major work needed to mix match and fit these items together. This option also allows for a ton of customization in the parts that people see and the parts that give a bike it's personality. For me this is a very serious option to consider. I would only have 1/2 the cost and 1/2 the parts sitting around and gathering dust until I get time to get it together.

Option 3) Find each and every part one at a time and build a completely custom motorcycle. I know I could do this, but I also know I will encounter more unexpected and possibly expensive issues with this type of build. This option would give me a bike that no one would ever duplicate. This could be very good or this could be very bad. What if some possible combination of frame, motor, forks, or wheels didn't work together? It would not be discovered until the motorcycle was all together. I think this option is better left to the serious professional who build bike all night long, as the are working on other peoples bikes, and running businesses during the day. I may consider this for my second custom chopper.

Option 4) Take an existing bike and start cutting and changing it. This is maybe as involved as chopping and re-welding the frame to create a new rake and angles. Or it could mean just getting a new frame and using the engine, transmission, and various other part to build a new machine. I like this idea, and I think it would be a lower cost alternative to all new custom parts. With this option you are also able to keep the current registration and title if the frame is not replaced. This is also a lower cost option because a lot of the miscellaneous parts can be reused.

I know that in one page all the possible combinations of Custom Chopper build can't be completely explained, I just hope this information give you something to start with and build on. It has help steer me in the direction of a rolling chassis, so I better get shopping.

13 AMP Power with SJS to Protect Gears
The 9564PC is powered by a 13 AMP motor that delivers 11,500 RPM, with soft start for smooth start-ups. Labyrinth construction protects the motor with a complex set of channels, prohibiting dust and contamination. In addition, the protective zig-zag varnish seals the motor and bearings from dust and debris by creating a barrier under rotation. Comfort and Ergonomics
The 9564PC weighs just 4.2 pounds and is built with comfort and ergonomic features for extended use. The paddle switch provides easy operation, and the gear housing can be positioned every 90° for operator convenience. Versatile Design for a Range of Applications
The 9564PC is a versatile and powerful grinder engineered for demanding applications including cutting, ferrous metal, paint and rust removal, shipyard maintenance, heavy machinery, metal polishing, general steel grinding, auto repair work, cutting brick and masonry, and restoration work. The 9564PC is just another example of Makita's commitment to innovative technology and best-in-class engineering.

About Makita's Super Joint System (SJS)
Super Joint System (SJS) is an innovation from Makita engineering where the motor armature and spiral bevel gear are linked by a coil spring. If the grinding wheel catches or binds, the coil spring relaxes and disengages the gears from the motor. As the grinding wheel stops, the gears and motor are protected. Makita's growing line of SJS-equipped grinders includes models ranging from a 1/4" die grinder to a 7-inch angle grinder.

Who needs a coffee table on wheels? If you live in a small apartment or if you have a very limited living space, chances are good that you do! There are plenty of people out there who move around from small space to small space, and there is a good chance that you are one of them. When you are looking to save space, a few tips can help out when it comes to figuring out how to make the most of the space that you have.

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

If you don't have a designated space for everything you own, you are going to find that you are going to be dealing with a perpetual mess. Think about good options for shelving, store things that you are currently not using.

2.Tuck it away!

One thing that can make your place look larger is the use of things that get folded away when they are not in use. The aforementioned coffee table on wheels is a great example of this. When you are done, roll it away and get some more walking space.

3.Build up

What kind of shelving can you put up? The more things that are not on the floor, the larger your place will feel. This can go a long way towards getting you the results that you are interested in. You can use the wheeled coffee table as a place to put your extra blankets, pillows, CD's, and DVD's.

4.Don't skimp on trash cans

If you find that you are fighting clutter and trash every time you turn around, make sure that you put a trash can down near the location. Even a small apartment may need two or three small wastebaskets, so make sure that you are meeting that need as it arises.

There are plenty of ways and means to get your small living space back to where it needs to be. Understand your space, design for your needs, and make sure that you take a look and see what a coffee table on wheels can do for you!

Widen the Arc of Your Golf Swing to Add 25 Yards to Your Drives

Driving the golf ball farther is largely a function of maximizing clubhead speed through impact. If you want to add 25 yards or more to your drives, one of the most effective swing thoughts you can have is to focus on a wider swing rather than a taller swing.

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

The Ceiling-to-Floor Golf Swing

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

Imagine swinging your driver in a room of your house (no furniture, of course!). Most golfers waste club head speed with a swing that is too vertical - that is, their swing is focused on going from the floor to the ceiling to the floor again. The vertical golf swing is narrow and very up-and-down, and its shape resembles a "V."

Because the clubhead cannot go through the ball into the floor, the vertical swing has to expend swing speed through a cast from the top or an early release. Whenever either of these symptoms happens, the clubhead reaches its maximum velocity before it ever contacts the golf ball.

The vertical golf swing can be caused by a number of factors:

Picking the club up with the hands to start the backswing; hinging the wrists too early in the backswing; not turning the shoulders; reverse weight shift or spine angle change; or lack of a pivot or weight shift on the backswing.

Fundamentally, however, the vertical golf swing usually has a "hit the ball" focus rather than a "swing to the target" focus. It may be possible to address any swing flaws simply by changing the focus of your golf swing rather than trying to fix the swing flaws directly, because if the underlying focus does not change, the symptomatic flaws are not likely to go away.

The Wall-to-Wall Golf Swing

Contrast the vertical golf swing with the wide golf swing. With a wider golf swing the golfer feels like they are trying to reach the walls of the room rather than the ceiling and floor.

The golfer who tries to reach the walls of the room develops a "U" shaped swing rather than a "V" shaped swing. The U shape allows the club to accelerate through the ball all the way to the target, maximizing clubhead speed through the ball and therefore increasing distance.

With a focus on a wall-to-wall swing many swing "flaws" fix themselves. A U-shaped swing will help the shoulders turn, reduce or eliminate early wrist hinge, make the weight shift feel more comfortable and natural, and eliminate spine angle changes.

Address the Fundamental Issue: Swing to the Target, Not the Ball

More fundamentally, however, the wall-to-wall swing can help the golfer change the focus of the swing from hitting the ball to swinging to the target. It is far more effective to make a swing change by addressing the fundamental underlying cause than it is to treat the symptoms.

One caveat: the wall-to-wall swing requires maintaining your leverage position and making a good pivot. The hips should not move laterally. It is not unusual when changing to a wider swing to see golfers sway (the lateral hip motion) rather than turn. Therefore when making the change to a wall-to-wall swing, consider working in tandem on both the wider arc and a better, more leveraged pivot. Switch back and forth every 3 to 5 practice shots between the wider arc swing and the leveraged pivot swing until the two work seamlessly together.

A Wider Golf Swing Means More Distance

Widening your swing arc can improve your driving distance 25 to 50 yards. Thinking "wall-to-wall" rather than "ceiling-to-floor" will produce a "U" shaped golf swing that will increase clubhead speed through the ball and simultaneously address many common swing flaws. When done in tandem with an efficient, leveraged pivot, the result will be effortless power and consistently longer drives.

The 9564PC is engineered with SJS, an innovation from Makita that protects the gears by automatically disengaging the motor should the grinding wheel accidentally catch or bind.

Comfort and Ergonomics
The 9564PC weighs just 4.2 pounds and is built with comfort and ergonomic features for extended use. The paddle switch provides easy operation, and the gear housing can be positioned every 90° for operator convenience. In addition, the side handle can be easily installed on either side of the tool as well as the top, and the "tool-less" wheel guard adjustment provides easy clamping.

The grinder is built for welders, fabricators, plumbers, masons, electricians, automotive technicians, stone and tile workers, HVAC, and general contractors seeking a best-in-class industrial quality angle grinder.

Build Big Biceps - 3 Top Tips for Building Massive Biceps Quickly

Building big biceps are a "must" for everyone trying to build muscle mass. And if you're trying to build bigger "guns" on your arm then you need to make sure you train them the "right" way, other wise you're just wasting your time. And believe it or not it can actually take a very long time before you start seeing results if you're training your biceps the wrong way.

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

So to help you build bigger biceps extremely quickly I'm going to share 3 top tips I use to build my biceps in no time flat.

4 1 2 Angle Grinder

Build Big Biceps Tip #1 - Hit 'em From ALL Angles.

Your bicep muscle is made up of two main parts. To keep things simple I'll just refer to them as the inner bicep and the outer bicep. The good thing is most bicep exercises allow you to work both parts simultaneously - which is very good for us.

In order to build big biceps you have to hit 'em from all angles. Which means you have to make sure you train your lower bicep (the part closest to your forearm), your outer bicep, your inner bicep (the part that's closest to your chest) and your upper bicep.

Make sure when you workout your biceps you train all of it's parts if you want to build bigger, stronger and more massive biceps fast. The key to building "fuller" biceps is training each part "specifically". So be sure to do exercises that work out each part of your bicep individually and also exercises that work out all or most of your bicep muscles simultaneously as well.

Build Big Biceps Tip #2 - Focus On Form First.

This is key for weight training period, focus on your form first. If you focus on "doing" the exercise correctly, big biceps will definitely follow.

When you don't use proper form, you don't stimulate the "deep" muscle tissues needed to build bigger biceps. With poor form you actually start using other muscles instead of specifically targeting the one you want to train (your biceps).

Remember, it's not quantity but quality. Think about it, you could lift 30 pounds ten times with poor form or 30 pounds six times with proper form, and you would notice much better results with the latter example. So remember, focus on form first and big biceps will soon follow.

Build Big Biceps Tip #3 - Don't Cheat - "Only When You Have To".

When you're training your biceps, it's important "not to cheat" only when you have to. Cheating on your biceps is very common and odds are you have been doing it or will do it if you don't pay attention.

Remember to lift the weight "at your biceps" and only at your biceps, don't throw your shoulder into it to help you with the workout. In order to build big biceps you have to isolate the bicep, which means only use your biceps to complete your reps.

So when do I cheat? - Well, unless you have a spot while you're doing bicep workout, you can get away with cheating but only in one situation.

And that situation is once your biceps have already failed. In other words, once you have worked your biceps to failure and you're trying to complete more reps, then you can cheat your way through 1 or two more reps. But only once your biceps have failed "using proper form" are you allowed to cheat.

If you're ready to build big biceps and quickly just follow these 3 simple tips and you'll be on the road to a big biceps in no time flat.
